OC Polo 2011-2012 Interscholastic Polo Program
Who is Eligible?
- Students – Grades 5 through 12
- Attend school within a 100 mile radius from OCPC
- Must be under the age of 19 years
- Scholastically eligible to play sports as verified through their school.
What is Included?
- 6 team clinics per month
- Clinic is 2 hours in length, both mounted and unmounted instruction
- Clinics held Friday afternoons from 4:30pm-6:30 PM and 2 weekend dates per mo
- Students will learn how to be responsible various horsemanship skills including:
• General horse care – how to groom, tack up, clip, tie tails, riding sets
• Parts of the horse
• Polo Equipment – ID parts, choosing the right tack, care, etc.
• Basic Veterinary care
• Horsesmanship, choosing the right horse, temperament, confirmation
• Polo skills & drills – mallet work, penalty shots, team strategy
• Practice chukkars & games
What about the rain?
Each clinic will be held rain or shine. If OCPC arena is too wet, the clinic schedule
will move to Mondays in the equestrain center covered arena on Monday
afternoons.
What is the cost?
- The monthly cost for the clinics is $500/month
- Once the participants achieve a skill level where they are able can compete in USPA Interscholastic tournaments, we will take them to the tournaments as part of the program. (tournament fees are separate from OC Polo interscholastic program fees)
